Stormwater Management Plans cover the major drainage, flooding and water quality associated with developments. PJA comprehensively review each development and specific council requirements to satisfy both water quality and client requirements

A Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP) is intended to provide sufficient evidence that the proposed development achieves Stormwater Best Practice Environmental Management Guidelines whilst providing supporting evidence that the stormwater strategy meets the local water authority requirements.

Key areas of focus of the stormwater strategy is the water quality and quantity discharging the site.

  • Water quality is achieved by the implementation of Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) principles, such as bioretention, rainwater tanks, basins and raingardens.
  • Water Quantity is achieved by assessing the predevelopment discharge against post development flows to ensure that the development does not have a detrimental affect downstream

For smaller developments a Stormwater Management Plan may consist of a single detention basin treating both water quality and quantity, discharging to the Legal Point of Discharge (LPOD).

Larger developments require detailed calculations through MUSIC and RORB Modelling to assess the full development site and the affect of the treatment trains. Each local authority has specific requirements and requires a tailored approach to achieve an efficient stormwater strategy.

All stormwater reports are undertaken by highly qualified civil engineers, we understand the importance of efficient, proactive and tailored strategies. Our consultants in Melbourne are committed to delivering high quality work that exceed client expectations whilst achieving current stormwater best practice guidelines.
