At PJA, we have a team of engineers and hydrologists skilled in dealing with the diverse challenges of water quality management within all types of developments.

Our team have extensive experience in Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) principles on projects ranging from multi townhouse sub-divisions to larger industrial and commercial land development projects including schools, community buildings and service stations.

Model for Urban Stormwater Improvement Conceptualisation, or otherwise known as MUSIC, is a stormwater quality assessment software our civil engineers and hydrologists use to model the impact of treatment nodes for the stormwater quality of a development. These nodes can either be treated as individual treatment devices or as part of a wider site treatment train.

With increasing urbanisation and the impacts of climate change, water quality is one of the most common stormwater planning conditions to include on land development projects. This is to ensure that stormwater in the urban development is retained, reused, and treated to mitigate the impact on the environment.

Local Authority council approval is often required to approve the developments stormwater drainage strategy with MUSIC modelling assessing four key water quality areas:

  • Total Suspended Solids (TSS)
  • Total Phosphorous (TP)
  • Total Nitrogen (TN)
  • Gross Pollutants (GP)
